Great for the price!
Bought this for 799 on a day after Thanksgiving Day sale. The price was right and it was 2006 when we bought it so it has been 2.5 years. Last year the TV went out and we didn't know what to do. I think we found some board games under a pile of dust. Anyways, it was simple to take the TV down and replace the fuse that's in there although the only place that has one is radio shack as it's an odd size. Since then no problems as we have hooked it up though a battery backup box that conditions the line. For the price it was great, but the contrast has improved and 1080i was the only thing available back then. 1080i is outdated and and 1000:1 contrast is old school with 1,000,000:1 ratios out and about. Amazing for it's day with no regrets here.

Great Value
I've had this set for almost 3 years now. In that amount of time I've never had a single problem that wasn't my own fault, and even those were easy fixes. For an entry level LCD this set will have most all of the features anyone would want, mainly IT LOOKS GREAT! Having said that, it stops looking great after a couple of years and learning more about the limitations of the entry level LCD market. Once you really look at the thing, all you're getting is a simple HD display without many bells and whistles.
Pros:
- Great display for the price
- Easy to use
- Remote is simple
- Built in tuner makes it ready for TV out of the box
- Plenty of input options
- Firmware upgradeable
- In house support (as long as the company is still around at least)
Cons:
- Lack of options in settings
- Very slow to turn on
- Simply ugly
- lots of spotlighting
- Bad contrast ratio
- take forever to scroll through inputs
- does not pass 5.1 or better audio through optical
- speakers are pretty bad
All in all, if this is going to be your first HDTV you'll be happy. If you're very finicky about your display you won't be very pleased. As I said, I've had this set for almost three years and I've been nothing but happy with it, it's just time for an upgrade to a fancier set.

BEST TV EVER!!!
Well let me begin stating that I have owned several TV's, Im quite the Sony costumer...UNTIL I FOUND OLEVIA!!!!!!!!!!
Been a Sony owner, sometimes is difficult to find a better standard in TV's, but my Bravia 42" went to the toillet, last year. I thought to wait a little to see how technology developed in the HD field. I did not came to Olevia as a choice, but rather than TRY. A short Story:
After my Sony Bravia TV went to the trash(this was my bedroom TV) I did not had a tv for my Bedroom, so the same day it died, I headed to the store to purchase a new TV. I was ready for another Sony, but I went to Walmart for some ciggys, and decided to see what they have to offer in the TV market. Im a Sony Store customer, so buying from Walmart to me was kind of risky, but hey, a look don't kill. While checking the Tv's I saw sharp, panasonic, and some brands I have never heard of, and I came across this Olevia TV. At first I did not have heard of this brand before, but as reading on the product description on the box, well I thought, can't be that bad, and since I was looking for a transition TV, the price was tempting. I went and bought it, without any extended guarantee, or anything. Ok, TV was heavy, unlike any other Sony TV's I have ever own including a Trinitron 36'' I had a long time ago. Well to make a long story short, this TV' has lasted more than a year with FLAWLESS performace, using HDMI and SVIDIEO inputs. Picture STUNNING... even on S-Video connection, but I was bown away with the HDMI connection. I am very picky when it comes to picture display even thou this TV is not 1080p, the 1080i performance is incredible, picture quality and sound will get you blown! If you can find this model at a good price... you'll not regret it!!!!!

worst company ever
if you like having a tv that breaks down all the time.this the tv for you. and when you call costumer service and have a ghetto person say to you..wha cha want..this the company for you.
if you like buying a tv that breaks down in 6 months..have it replaced and the replacement tv breaks in 6 months too..this is the tv for you.
get the word out..syntex olivia is the worst company in america

Good value for the money
This product lived up to its hype. Very good picture and sound. Am very pleased with it. The company was very good to deal with. Fed Ex was terrible. They should be ashamed for their lack of service. I would definitely buy from this company again. Make sure you buy the HDMI Digital Video Cable. It doesn't come with the the tv but is available through Amazon at a very good price.

LCD TV seems to be very popular these days but my last choice for high definition televisions are plasma televisions. Experts agree that produces picture quality more than the plasma TV screen. The contrast ratio and the quality of blacks on plasma TV's are much larger LCD TVs. One of the reasons for LCD televisions was so popular that prices have fallen much faster than plasma televisions. But today, this factor is no longer relevant, since the prices are similar for both types of HDTV.
One of the bestpopular models of plasma TVs on the market currently, the Panasonic Viera TC G10-P42G10 plasma TVs from 42 inches. In recent years, Panasonic (experts in one of the oldest factories of electronics in the world) for the manufacture of plasma televisions. This new model is nothing less than a work of art.
The design of the G10 Panasonic Viera TC-P42G10 plasma TV 42 inches is one of my favorite features. Its black frame has a high-gloss finish and elegant curves, making it look very modernand adding to its 'cool factor'. It has a clean, minimalist look with only a small red light in stand-by.
The VIERA Cast is one of my favorite features on the G-10-TC-P42G10. Once the network is connected, you can know in real-time weather information and other Web content to enjoy on the Internet. The remote is also surprisingly easy to use and navigating menus is a breeze.
The contrast ratio on CT G10-P42G10 and 2,000,000: 1, much larger LCD TVExistence. Because of this high contrast ratio, the quality of blacks on the screen simply amazing. My last TV was a Sony Bravia series of LCD TVs. The blacks on the LCD screen werenever really black, but dark gray shadow. DVD and video playback of Blu-ray is easy to fall only on the VIERA jaws.

Screen broke for no reason after a year!
We purchased the TV brand new from our local electronics store.
After owning the TV approximately eighteen months, we awoke one morning to find the inner screen shattered. Nobody had touched it during the night and it was perfectly fine the night before.
The extended warranty we had purchased for the TV was useless as the warranty company refused to fix the TV because they said we must have abused the TV.
So, we wasted almost 00 for a television that lasted a year and a half.
We will never buy another Panasonic TV or LCD TV. We went with plasma for the replacement television.

Own it for now 3 years
This is a really good TV. But buy a newer one. This on was made in 2007. And now we have 2010.

I like everything but these dark lines on the screen
Ours is 2 years old and has had a dark line down the middle for about a year. Now it has one on either side of the screen, too, and the one in the middle is getting darker.

Great Picture
Well defined picture in HD, very useful and convenient remote especially with cable service. Toddler has touched screen and left marks we are unable to remove- tough to clean screen.

Love It.
Bought this in December 2007, and it was money well spent. My wife wanted to upgrade from our 35" tube. I was reluctant, but am happy I went along. I had seen LCDs at friends and relatives houses, and was convinced that they were not that much better than what we had. Well they definately didn't have this.
The picture quality on the HD chanels is amazing. My wife, who does not watch sports, will watch now just to see the picture.
The sound is a little worse than what we had in our tube TV, but I knew that going in. If I want realy good sound, for a movie or music, I run it through our surround sound and its all good.
If you can find one of these at a discount for its age, you will not be dissapointed.

Technical data: Since its launch, the PN42B450 Samsung 42-inch plasma HDTV has topped the bestseller. After the test is a few days, it is easy to see why (low price) to help tag. This model is HD-790P model, where the display has a resolution of 1024 x 768. For the audio system uses SRS TruSurround HD technology and has 20 watts of audio power. In terms of connectivity, PN42B450 has 3 HDMI ports, two component video connection, a USB portand a pair of standard connectors. It is also very efficient, as Energy Star-compliant.
Design: The PN42B450 Samsung has a glossy black frame and stand almost completely. On the bottom frame (below the screen) is a strip of dark red color, a beautiful accent for your overall appearance creates. It measures 41.7 x 28.4 centimeters x12.4 in size and weighs 61.3 kg. Most links are on the back of the device. There are also several connections (such as an HDMI portand composite AV input) is on the side of the HDTV.
Characteristics and Performance: Although the PN42B450 a Samsung 720p plasma, from our tests, video playback was much better than many 1080p LCD HDTV on the market. The black levels were very low and joined the colors. We tried Transformers (Blu-ray) and the graphics were simply stunning. Fast action sequences were smooth and almost flawless, thanks to its response time 0.001ms. I use to think that Panasonicand Pioneer plasma HDTV is the best on the market, but now it seems the PN42B450 Samsung (along with PN50B450 and give another model in their series) want these giants a good run for their money. To top it off, this model currently costs about $ 680 a piece () with free shipping, making it an incredible bargain. There are very few HDTV (42 ") in the market for sale, including the $ 900 mark.
