This TV does not work with universal remotes. In 2009 that is totally ridiculous. You will be better off buying another brand.

Bought this TV for our boat to replace a crt that won’t receive digital signal. This one was easy to set up and install with a wall bracket. The picture and sound are perfect for our use. I really couldn’t be happier with my puchase, but I guess I’m not as critical as some. Yes if you try to watch it from the side you get a bad picture, welcome to LCD TV’s. Try looking at your laptop from the side, same problem. We get a good picture with as much as 15 to 30 degrees of angle. I think it is a great little TV for the money spent.

We have a big screen and four small TV’s in a cabinet and keep most of them on all day. I replaced a 13 inch TV with the Coby which is about the same size picture but wider. The Coby is on cable (non-HD).
The picture is very sharp and the wavy lines that our cable system cannot get rid of are cleaned up nicely. Graphics and closed captions are easy to read from 15 feet away. I try to average out the difference in tint from one station to another and this TV took a while. Likewise, if I tried to match the contrast/brightness to the nearby TV’s, it was nearly impossible. If you see haze, start over. Bad lighting, harsh lighting really looks terrible on close-ups of faces. Comparing the pavement on a sunny racetrack seen on this TV to another TV looks just like what I see when I take off my polarized sunglasses riding down the interstate.
Comparing the sound on this TV to every other TV is like saying Pee Wee Herman will never beat Hulk Hogan. No, he won’t. But, comparing my four SMALL TV’s, the Coby is the loudest and clearest. Turn up the bass and treble as much as you like.
The remote is just the right size and well-organized except the “zero” is on the left side when it should be in the middle like a telephone. The menu used to adjust the TV does not cover the screen as badly as the ViewSonic I bought a few months ago.

We’re very happy with the Coby 15″ wide screen t. v. For the money, it is perfect. We use it in our bedroom, more to listen than watch while preparing for bed. If your expectations are reasonable, you’ll be very happy. The support provided by Coby, when we were connecting to the existing cable set-up, was excellent.
